Victims' father apologizes for trying to attack Nassar

Editorial: Giving victims a start on healing

He has already been sentenced for up to 175 years in prison for sexual assault and molestation and 60 years for child-pornography charges.

The violent outburst came after more than two weeks of raw, powerful statements from the young women who were sexually abused by Nassar over the past two decades.

Margraves lunged towards the defence table but were soon tackled by three sheriff's deputies as he kept shouting, "I want that son of a bitch!"

"I would ask you as part of this sentencing to grant me five minutes in a locked room with this demon", Randall Margraves said following his daughters' statements.

A tall, burly man with thick gray hair, Margraves said his relationship with his daughters had always been "strained, distant and hard".

Margraves then lunged at Nassar, who was sitting nearby.

Cunningham could have given Margraves a jail sentence or fine as she considered whether to hold him in contempt of court. "I can only hope that when the day comes when Larry Nassar has ended his days on earth" that he goes to the "deepest, darkest, hottest pit in hell there is".

Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich said Randall Margraves' case remains under investigation and likely would be forwarded to prosecutors.

Margraves was handcuffed and taken into custody.

"I failed my own daughter", Lynn Erickson said tearfully in court on Friday, as her daughter Ashley, one of Nassar's victims, wiped away tears. As uniformed officers pulled him from the courtroom, he implored them, "What if this happened to you guys?"

Margraves' daughters had also described the impact on their parents.

A judge says there's "no way" she'll punish the father of three. An online fundraising page at the website GoFundMe had collected more than Dollars 9,000 for Margraves' potential legal fees by 3 pm. "I gotta hear that and I look over here and Larry Nassar's shaking his head, 'no, ' like it didn't happen", he said.

73 of the Nassar Survivors spoke during this third and final sentencing hearing for the former doctor and once again the last word was left to Racheal Denhollander of Kalamazoo who asked Judge Cunningham to give Nassar the maximum allowed under their plea deal.

Cunningham said Nassar didn't authorize the statements and has disavowed them.
