Father of Larry Nassar victims lunges at him during sentencing hearing

Theis On Committee Investigating Nassar Scandal At MSU

Shortly after Mangraves was handcuffed and escorted out, Michigan Assistant Attorney General Angela Povilaitis addressed the courtroom. His two daughters and wife were sobbing as Margraves was taken out of court.

Randall Margraves was giving a statement during a new sentencing hearing for Nassar when he requested five minutes alone in a locked room "with this demon".

As officers removed Margraves, he repeatedly demanded "one minute!" and asked: "What if this happened to you guys?"

"Let me at him, son of a (explative)", he can be heard saying in a video from the courtroom.

Nassar in December was separately sentenced to 60 years in federal prison on child pornography charges.

The incident occurred during the third and final sentencing hearing for Nassar on sexual abuse charges. Margraves is the father of three daughters who were abused by Nassar.

"I recognize that Mr Margraves had three daughters that he has had to watch go through the pain and the hurt", Cunningham said.

Margraves later apologized for his behavior after being released from custody and Cunningham said there was "no way" she would punish Margraves for his attempted attack on Nassar.

"Let me at him - the son of a b-ch".

"The police questioned you- and you had the audacity to tell them i had misunderstood this treatment because i was not comfortable with my body- how dare you".

When the judge denied the request, Margravves lunged at him.

On Thursday, one of Nassar's attorneys, Shannon Smith, cast doubt on the number of athletes her client is alleged to have abused. In court, Judge Rosemarie Aquilina told Nassar she had just "signed his death warrant". He also is the father of another woman who spoke out against Nassar in neighboring Ingham County last month.

Nassar faces another long prison sentence on top of the two he has already received.

The courtroom is expected to hear at least 65 victim impact statements before Nassar's sentencing.
