Octavia Spencer to buy out theater for 'Black Panther' screening in Mississippi

BBC Minute: on Black Panther

Black Panther is released in United Kingdom cinemas on February 12th, with USA audiences getting the movie a few days later on February 16th.

If you're one of those eager Marvel fans who have booked your advance tickets to go see Black Panther, well guess what - you're now part of a Marvel cinematic history.

To put that in perspective, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had an opening weekend of $166 million in March 2016.

The film from director Ryan Coogler had its first screenings Monday night and a premiere in Los Angeles. They are planning to sabotage the film and have in fact made a Facebook event called "Give Black Panther a Rotten Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes".

According to IMDb, some of his past roles include starring as T'Challa, The Black Panther in "Captain America: Civil War", James Brown in "Get On Up", Jackie Robinson in "42", and Thurgood Marshall in "Marshall". It follows T'Challa (Boseman) after the death of his father, the king of the fictional African nation of Wakanda, and his ascension to the throne.

Black Panther's early reviews have been alight with praise for the upcoming Marvel Studios standalone film, but a group of DC Comics fans looks to bring the film's hype down to size. The film, which has drawn almost unanimous rapturous early reactions, doesn't come out until the middle of the month, but the buzz is already huge for the tentpole. This world's livelihood is in our blood'.

Asked for a highlight, she said, "To see all these attractive, talented black people all in one place, this black nation, coming together, technologically advanced with so much swag and brilliance". Congratulations #RyanCoogler -you did that!'
