Erdogan Wants Allies to Back Away From Kurdish Rebels

PYD PKK leader defames Afrin operation with fake

There's no public evidence, however, that the YPG in Afrin launched any attack across the border before Turkey's January 20 invasion.

On his first visit to troops in the southern Turkish border region of Hatay since the campaign began, Erdogan emphasised that operation Olive Branch "will continue until the result is reached".

But Erdogan said in a speech in Ankara: "We will continue our fight until there is no terrorist on our border leading to Iraq". US forces are deployed in the Syrian town with the YPG militia.

With the support of the US-led coalition's air power and special forces, the SDF led the battle past year against IS during which the jihadists lost their de facto capital of Raqa.

But the YPG has been working closely with Washington against IS in Syria as part of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The US told Ankara it will not deliver any more weapons to the Syrian Kurdish PYD/YPG fighters, Turkish media report.

"The (Syrian) regime doesn't believe in a political solution and it will not believe in the future.it only believes in the military option", Syrian opposition leader Naser al-Hariri said from Vienna on Saturday.

Last week, Turkish troops entered Afrin area, which is controlled by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) extension PYD. "But how can a strategic partner do such a thing to its strategic partner?"

Erdogan made his remarks on the seventh day of the Turkish operation in Afrin. Turkey has so far built three observation spots and is expected to accomplish the remaining nine spots in the following weeks and months.

Erdogan criticised Turkey's allies, including the United States, which he said called for the operation to be "short" and "limited" in scope, referring to previous interventions. "Turkey is trying to counterbalance the United State with its relations with Russian Federation". The Observatory has said at least 30 civilians have been killed but Ankara strongly rejects such claims, saying that it is doing everything to avoid civilian casualties.

This move of Turkey's obliges the U.S.to undergo drastic changes in its policies and short-term tactical alliances in the Syrian theater.

Turkey's incursion into northern Syria has led to heightened tensions with Washington - a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally and the main backer of Syria's Kurds.

"I believe the USA will put forward some truly satisfying alternative solutions to ease Turkey's security concerns", she said.

"Turkish operations in Ephraim and all operations in Ephraim that have the effect of inducing friction into the equation, of making it hard to focus on why we're in Syria - which is the defeat of ISIS in the Euphrates River valley - are a negative thing", Joint Staff Director Marine Corps Lt. Gen.

The onslaught has stirred diplomatic tensions between North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies Turkey and the United States.

Several countries, including the USA, the United Kingdom and France, have already voiced alarm, but no country has categorically urged Turkey to halt the Turkish military operation. It suspects the Kurds of wanting independence in the long-run.
