IPhone Battery Explodes After Man Bites It To Test Its Authenticity

Man Causes Explosion in Electronics Store After Biting iPhone Battery

Per Chinese-language site Sina Tech, a man bit an iPhone battery in a computer parts shop in an attempt to verify that it was actually a battery.

Although there was a pretty sizeable explosion when the man bites an iPhone battery, no one was injured, thankfully.

One man recently demonstrated why you should not consider biting your cell phone battery.

It was reported that the new Apple phone’s batteries were manufactured by Amperex Technology Limited, the same supplier for the faulty Galaxy Note 7 batteries that were later taken off from the market by Samsung. The blast occurred inches from the face of the man who bitten it.

So, yes. You should not bite smartphone batteries.

Taiwan News discovered the video posted on Chinese video-sharing site miaopai.com, which was obtained from a store's CCTV camera on January 20, and it shows a man survive a unsafe explosion.

However, Chinese electronics stores are scandalously abundant with fake goods so the man tried to check the authenticity of the new battery but obviously his way of testing was wrong. His decision to do so, however, proved to be a mistake after the battery ruptured and exploded. The flames and explosion caused by this dubious experiment were immortalized by the store's CCTV cameras. Definitely, biting is an act of putting pressure on the battery. The electronics store, unidentified, isn't an Apple store.

Apple defended the move in a statement saying: "Our goal is to deliver the best experience for customers, which includes overall performance and prolonging the life of their devices".

"When we did put [the speed-sapping software update] out, we did say what it was but I don't think a lot of people were paying attention", Cook said.
