Snapchat now allows stories to be read by people without the app

The redesigned app will be rolled out to users alongside the Story sharing update

The feature is set to arrive in Australia and Canada first alongside a broader rollout with Snapchat's latest redesign.

That means you'll be able to send selected video and photo compilations via text, email, instant message, or share Stories on pretty much any chat or social platform that supports links (say, Twitter or Facebook). The links do disappear after 30 days, however. At least that appears to be Snapchat's hope, in the same way that Twitter has hoped that people would see tweets embedded on publishers' sites and opt to sign up for Twitter to see more of them. "Stories eligible for sharing right now include those Official Stories and Our Stories found in the Discover tab, as well as Search Stories", TechCrunch reported.

Snapchat have announced they are rolling out a new feature on the app that kind of defies the whole actual point of Snapchat.

If you share a Search Story with somebody who doesn't use Snapchat, it will be available to watch for 30 days.

SnapChat has been struggling with its user growth because nearly all of its features have been copied on Instagram and a few have made its way to the Facebook platform itself as well.

The company has said that the new feature will only work on Public Stories, Our Stories or Official Stories and not to stories that users only share with their friends. You can also copy the link. They can simply view the Story you shared through a new Story player on the company's official website.

Snapchat is an app that I've been trying to avoid for some time, but it looks like that quest will soon be much more hard.

"Our Stories make you feel like you're at an event, festival or celebration anywhere in the world and are hand-curated or automatically created by Team Snapchat". Snap has seen its stock value decrease substantially since floating on the stock market, largely due to disappointing financial disclosures. Snapchat is looking to expand their presence and allow users to view content outside of the iOS and Android. "Search Stories are algorithmically generated so you can find Stories on just about anything on Snapchat".
