Looks Like Audiobooks Are Coming to Google Play

Ratings and user reviews

The hub isn't now accessible, and 9to5Google says that there's no indication of when the store will go live.

Interestingly, another suggests that even the Google Play Books app is about to be upgraded with audiobook support. For example, the Audible Clips feature allows users to record their favorite lines from audiobooks that they can share with their friends and family. There is also no information on when the Google Play Store audiobooks section goes live.

Amazon has recently added audio support for its entry-level Kindle e-book reader. Now, though, it appears audiobooks are being added to that list. As sales of audiobooks have exploded in recent years, and a dedicated storefront would give Google a foot in the door to capture some of those sales within its own digital ecosystem. Google will soon start offering audiobooks via its Google Play Store. To celebrate the arrival, Google's banner also mentions a deal which takes 50% off the first audiobook you purchase.

Then again, things will get a bit more cluttered with the addition of an audiobooks section. Most of the new e-readers are now come with audiobooks support and for that reason, the giant has chose to offer a separate audiobooks section on the Play Store. It would be logical for the company to move all the audiobooks to the Google Play Store. Hopefully, if this implantation will actually happen, it will make it easier for customers to actually get these audiobooks and listen to more books along the way.

Since Android is an open source platform, many other services offer Audiobooks for the compatible Android devices. Did you expect this from Google?

We don't have any estimated timeframe for the launch of the audiobooks on Google Play Store. For more such updates, stay tuned with us!
