`Text bomb´ bug can crash Apple's iPhone by text?

Receiving this malicious link through iMessage can freeze your iPhone, iPad and Mac

The flaw typically causes an iPhone to crash, and on a Mac, makes the Safari browser crash and causes other slowdowns. The name would indicate that it only affects iPhones and iPads although what it really attacks is the Messages app, regardless of whether it is running on iOS or macOS.

Masri told BuzzFeed News that he discovered the bug while "fuzzing with the operating system". Now, you can't open anything that vaguely resembles a suspicious message or link.

Effective Power is back, baby! As clever, or corny, as this name is the bug is nothing to take lightly.

Considering Apple's software's bad time from the end of previous year, the company is expected to be more alert and responsive in 2018.

The bug manifests when a text is received (or sent) that contains what appears to be a GitHub link. Another person tweeted a link to resolve the problem in the same thread, stating that it was old fix for a similar problem which worked for him. Messages app will not load any messages and will continue to crash. However, considering the problems that it can cause, fans are expecting more information to be released in the coming weeks. It could be the way the link is coded or something deep within the page that the link leads.

Remember the ChaiOS message bug we talked about yesterday?

You don't have to click the link to be impacted, someone just has to text it to you. Then Intel's Spectre and Meltdown fiasco cast doubt on the security of practically every modern computing device in existence. Until Apple releases a fix, users will simply have to hope their friends are nice people.
