Windies bowler Ronsford Beaton reported for suspect action

Three worldwide matches on tour so far have produced three defeats for Windies, and if it doesn't reverse that trend in the second One-Day global against New Zealand at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday, there will be no comebacks left in the three-match ODI series.

Brief scores: New Zealand 326/5 (Henry Nicholls 83, George Worker 58; Sheldon Cotrell 3/62) beat West Indies 121 all out (Ashley Nurse 27; Trent Boult 7/34, Lockie Ferguson 3/17) by 204 runs.

While most would be revelling after such an accomplishment of becoming just the second New Zealand bowler to take seven scalps in an ODI, Boult is pleased to just keep new ball partner, Tim Southee, some company.

Adept at working the ball into gaps for twos and threes, Nicholls showed he's more than capable of finding the fence when needed, belting seven fours and two sixes on Saturday.

Boult had three for six after his first three overs as the West Indies fell apart at the start of their innings.

The win was built on a brilliantly timed 130-run partnership between Henry Nicholls and Todd Astle, which propelled the Black Caps to 325 in the second ODI.

West Indies captain Jason Holder reduced New Zealand to 186 for five when he removed Tom Latham and Taylor in the space of 11 balls, leaving Nicholls and Astle to rebuild the innings. I don't think what we saw in the first two games is a fair indication of how well these guys can play.

He took 21 runs off seamer Shannon Gabriel in the 48th over, blasting him for six, four, six in the opening three deliveries.

Meanwhile, fast bowler Seth Rance has been named as replacement for Adam Milne, who injured his foot and is ruled out of the ODI series and the upcoming T20Is against West Indies. "I thought the bowlers went reasonably well but we let ourselves down in the second half of the game and the last 10 overs".

"I'm still not able to give a strong position on where he's at but he is better than the last game". The third and final match in the series will be at Hagley Oval on Tuesday.

Latham was thrilled to have wrapped up the series, and said: "The way Nicholls and Todd (Astle) batted, it helped us come back after a poor start".

"If I could pin it down to anything it was a little bit of movement in the first spell with the new ball", Boult said. "We've got a quiet team lunch planned for Christmas". And the way Trent bowled, remarkable.
