Google App Matches Your Face With Famous Art

What work of art do you most look like? The silly app everyone is playing with

This google arts and culture app is pretty wonderful.

The app went viral this weekend after users discovered the entertaining feature that analyzes your face and matches it to historical artwork.

This google arts and culture app is pretty incredible.

In fact, after the selfie matching functionality was added in a recent update, Google's Arts & Culture app gained so much traction online that it claimed the No. 1 free app spot on Google Play in the U.S. People on social media are going insane posting their results from the app. It may just give you that prompt to check out the art world to see if you have an undiscovered doppelganger.

What is everyone using it now?

The Google Arts & Culture app, a virtual museum app launched a year ago by the tech giant, has created a new feature that helps you find your doppelgänger in the art world. You essentially take a selfie, and the app finds artwork with subjects that - should - match your face. It's also very shareable.

The app uses computer-vision to find the key features of your face. Google has told some news outlets that the feature is experimental, so don't take things too personally if it matches you to a Picasso painting. Others, not so much-but these ridiculous comparisons are a big part of the app's fun. Simply load up the app, scroll down to the "Is your portrait in a museum?" section, and hit "Get Started". However, none of my results returned with a higher than a 45 percent match. Prima, a photo-editing app, shot to fame for turning images into paintings, complete with strokes of an artist's brush. You can share your selfie matches with us on the 12 News Facebook page.
