Seahawks fire OC Darrell Bevell

Coach Pete Carroll left the door open for potential coaching changes when he said after the season that the staff would be evaluated.

Wide receiver Doug Baldwin, as he has done on other occasions, defended Bevell after the season.

The firing would be the first of a coordinator for the Seahawks since the removal of Bates following the 2010 season.

It's unclear who the Seahawks will turn to as a replacement for Bevell. We don't execute as a team.

The 48-year-old Bevell served as an offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings for five seasons before venturing to the Pacific Northwest in 2011. And that's on us as players.

With the offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator and QBs coaches now reportedly gone, the Seahawks are experiencing a lot of turnover.

The Seahawks also ended the 2014 season with perhaps the most infamous play in Super Bowl history, an interception of Wilson by Malcolm Butler at the one-yard line in the final seconds that preserved a 28-24 New England victory.

Bevell's playcalling helped put Seattle at or near the top of the league in rushing from 2012-2015.

The Seahawks' running game in particular has struggled over the past two seasons.

Seattle fell to 23rd in rushing in 2017, with Wilson leading the team on the ground with 586 yards.

On the heels of earlier reports that offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell had been fired and defensive coordinator Kris Richard had been encouraged to look for a job elsewhere, the Seahawks appeared headed toward a new chapter of the Pete Carroll-John Schneider era. Seattle finished fourth overall in points and passing yards (4,061) and third overall in rushing (2,268). Cable, who joined Seattle's staff the same year as Bevell, is also not assured of being brought back next season.
