Huma Abedin, Anthony Weiner to Settle Divorce Out of Court

Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner call off divorce

A source told Page Six that either the couple, who have a 6-year-old son together, will remain married or will privately negotiate a separation.

"In order to ensure the proceedings have a minimal impact on their child, the parties have made a decision to finalize their divorce swiftly and privately", her attorney Charles Miller said.

Abedin filed for divorce last May, mere hours after Weiner pleaded guilty to sexting with a minor.

The pair could refile their divorce as "uncontested" in order to avoid a court appearance. One of her attorney showed up in her place, submitting paperwork signed by both parties that agreed to end the case.

It reportedly has been marked "discontinued" by a Manhattan Supreme Court judge.

The couple still plans to proceed with the divorce, but outside of the public eye. In September, Weiner was sentenced to 21 months in jail for illicit online contact with a minor.

Once a rising Democratic star, he tried to salvage his political career by running for mayor of NY in 2013 but his campaign ended amid reports of further graphic online messages.

Weiner, a disfavored government official once thought about a main Democratic figure, is right now serving a 21-month sentence in MA for sending lascivious photos to a minor.
