Woman Accused of Destroying $300K Worth of Art at Tony Buzbee's House

Woman accused of damaging $300K worth of art belonging to Houston attorney appears in court

A Dallas woman is facing felony charges after police say she destroyed at least $300,000 worth of sculptures and original paintings - including two original Andy Warhol works - at the River Oaks home of well-known Houston trial lawyer Anthony Buzbee.

According to the criminal complaint filed against Layman on December 23, Layman allegedly "tore paintings off the wall with her hands" and threw the sculptures across the room.

KHOU-TV reported Layman was on a first date with Buzbee, with the lawyer at one point having called Layman an Uber after she became intoxicated.

Among the list of damaged masterpieces reportedly damaged by Laymen were two Andy Warhol paintings valued at $500,000 each.

In court, Layman stated she is from Dallas, working as a court reporter. Layman would not leave and hid from Buzbee, according to KHOU. "When they returned to his home, he believed she was too intoxicated and decided he wanted her to leave".

Buzbee trusted she was excessively inebriated and called a Uber driver to lift her up. That's when she allegedly poured red wine on his paintings and ripped them off the wall, then threw his sculptures on the ground.

Buzbee, you might recall, is the same Texas A&M regent who called for former Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin's firing after Texas A&M blew a huge lead to UCLA in its first game of this season.

Layman was taken to Harris County jail where she was then released after posting a bond of $30,000.

Buzbee also made headlines a year ago for parking a tank outside of his home, causing a brief fight with his homeowner's association.

Buzbee is a high-profile attorney who hosted Donald Trump at his home for a presidential campaign fundraiser in 2016.
