Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is an RPG coming to Android in 2018

There's a Harry Potter narrative-based RPG in the works

Most of the iconic professors from the Harry Potter stories reprise their roles in the game. Interactive recently revealed a new label expressly created to make new games for the fantasy series, with the publisher now proclaiming that it has plans to release a fresh RPG based on the property named Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery that's set to release in 2018 for Android and iOS. Interactive Entertainment's Portkey Games, a new label dedicated to creating gaming experiences set within the Harry Potter world.

Los Angeles-based mobile games studio Jam City, in association with Portkey Games and Warner Bros.

Jam City says Hogwarts Mystery will be a story-focused game, and although exact gameplay details have yet to be announced, the little information we do know already has us quite excited for its release. No release date has been announced. This might disappoint fans who were hoping to encounter the characters but we should be able to see Harry's dad James Potter, who was also a fan-favorite.

An entire generation of Harry Potter fans who dreamed of attending Hogwarts will now have a chance to enroll at the school of witchcraft and wizardry through a new mobile game.

This sounds like the magical experience that every Harry Potter fan has been waiting for! The company, known for its work on puzzle games like Cookie Jam and Panda Pop, has licensed the IP from Warner Bros.

Players will take classes and participate in extracurriculars as part of the game, including Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and Duelling Club.

Harry Potter is one of the most beloved properties in the Warner Bros. In other words, 2018 might be the best year to be a muggle yet. And what exactly should we expect from the game?

"'Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery' is a mobile gaming experience inspired by J.K. Rowling's spellbinding lore, and it will be an exciting, fun way for fans to experience the Wizarding World", said David Haddad, president of Warner Bros.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts' Mystery will be free to play and available for mobile devices through Apple's App Store, GooglePlay and the Amazon Appstore.
