Samsung Galaxy S9 Super Fast Charging & In-Display Fingerprint Scanner Tipped

Synaptics Clear ID in-display fingerprint scanner to go on a “Tier 1” phone

The Clear ID in-display fingerprint scanner by Synaptics offers the same kind of one-touch authentication that is available through conventional front/rear mounted fingerprint readers found on existing smartphones.

Synaptics, the California-based "human interface solution developer" founded in 1986, is no stranger to PC input and interface devices with more than 5 billion units shipped to OEM partners and a large patent portfolio.

As we have seen the failure of Face ID with twins and 3D face masks, the Fingerprint scanner is a much better technology and cheaper way to ensure the security of the consumer. It is a milestone achievement by the company as it will allow full screen design phones to feature the fingerprint sensor underneath the touchscreen display.

Anyway, despite the fact that prominent analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (KGI Securities) has said the Galaxy Note 9 will be the first phone to feature in-display scanning tech, Synaptics announced the Clear ID FS9500 scanner unit which it says is designed for handsets with near bezel-less form factors. "Synaptics' Clear ID fingerprint sensors are faster, more convenient, and more secure than alternative biometrics, and this optical technology represents a major innovation shift and opportunity for the smartphone market". The latest innovation from the Synaptic nearly solves the fundamental problem of the 2017 smartphone with narrow bezels with no place to place the fingerprint scanner. Synaptics, a company known for touch sensing, display and biometrics solutions, has announced that it has entered in the mass production of world's first in-display fingerprint sensors for the smartphones. This technology will work similar to the standard fingerprint scanner.

There's also this gem, which mentions OLED Infinity Displays. The presence or absence of the screen protector will not pose in difficulties in the processor. Banks are alleged to be seeing iris scanning as more of a fad at the moment, and considering the iris scanning technology on the Galaxy S8 was able to be fooled by a photograph, may not see it as the most secure method for authentication. Keeping that in mind, the S9 is the most likely smartphone by Samsung to be in the production stage right now. But what we could extract from the official press release that this new fingerprint scanner will be used hy Samsung in it's upcoming Galaxy S series of devices which will be the Samsung Galaxy S9 series.

So, what do you think about this technology?
