California wildfires temporarily shut down production of HBO show

Westworld Season 2 Premiere Title

"Due to nearby wildfires, Westworld stopped production earlier today and will resume filming as soon as it's safe to do so", according to an HBO statement.

The production of two blockbuster TV shows has been halted by wildfires in California.

News of S.W.A.T.'s delay was first mentioned by a Twitter account run by the show's writers, who cited unsafe air quality as the reason for the shut-down.

Fires in Santa Clarita, California stopped production on Westworld for a while, but the cast and crew are hard at work to finish filming the second season of the show. Both shows are shot near Santa Clarita, in Los Angeles County, where a fire erupted this morning and grew rapidly throughout the day.

A staff for the studio revealed that their Internet connection has been down due to the fire. The freeways have already been closed and there have been traffic jams on the main roads. "It's a very hard moment, but we will get through this", Garcetti said. The employee added that the fire could be seen from the studio offices. The HBO series garnered 22 Emmy nominations following its first season.

"Westworld" Season 2 is still filming for its premiere in spring 2018 on HBO.

The dystopian show is now filming its second season in an area close to the fires, but producers were concerned about the danger to actors and crew.
