Jak & Daxter sequels finally join The Precursor Legacy on PS4 this Wednesday

Three Jak and Daxter Titles Release on PS4 Week as PS2 Classics

The Jak and Daxter series' numbered trilogy will finally be available on PlayStation 4 as the second and third entries will release next week through the PlayStation Store as PlayStation 2 Classics.

A launch trailer has been released for Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X Combat Racing.

Back in April, Sony confirmed that they were bringing all four PS2 Jak and Daxter games to PS4. Well now the entire series will be available for you to download/purchase on the PS4.

For those too young to remember the Jak and Daxter games (sigh), they were Naughty Dog's attempt to push the 3D platformers of the N64/PSOne era to the next level, introducing open-world environments, varied gameplay, and a heavier emphasis on story. However, the rest of the promised Jak and Daxter games were still missing, until now. Interestingly, they made a decision to take the franchise in another direction when they released their fourth main game, Jak X Combat Racing in 2005. These games can be purchased for $15 individually or together as a bundle for $40. This was a trait Jak has kept ever since and was something that allowed Naughty Dog to take the franchises' narrative to the next level.

Jak and Daxter is one of the PS2's most treasured franchises and served as something of a midpoint between developer Naughty Dog's early days on Crash Bandicoot and their more narratively-focused present with Uncharted and The Last of Us.

Together, the entirety of Naughty Dog's Jak and Daxter installments will be playable on the current Sony platform.
