Anthony Davis to have groin injury examined Sunday, sources say

Anthony Davis fined $25K following first career ejection

The New Orleans Pelicans will very likely face the Portland Trail Blazers today without their talisman forward Anthony Davis, according to William Guillory of The New Orleans Times Picayune.

He suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Pelicans' game against the Utah Jazz.

It's never great when a player like Davis is on the sidelines.

It's possible Davis previously injured himself on this play, though.

Minnesota responded by finishing the half on a 17-6 run to take a 62-49 lead into the halftime locker room.

None of those issues proved all that serious, but the accumulation of wear and tear after failing to suit up in at least 70 games during four of his first five National Basketball Association reasons hasn't been particularly encouraging. He remained down for several moments as trainers examined him, and he could not put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the court. Without him, New Orleans failed to contain the Jazz offense, allowing rookie Donovan Mitchell to score 41 points, sending the Pelicans to its third straight loss.

Davis has a long history of injuries, but he played 75 games last season while staying relatively healthy.
