Harvey Weinstein Sued for Alleged Cannes 'Sex Trafficking'

London civil claim lodged against Weinstein

Still-shaken actress Kadian Noble described a predatory Harvey Weinstein pouncing on her without warning during a brutal 2014 sexual assault in a Cannes hotel room.

Now complaint filed in federal court on this side of the Atlantic today by actress Kadian Noble claims Weinstein sexually assaulted her at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and TWC covered it up for another 'Friend of Harvey'.

The complaint states that when the two both found themselves in France soon after, Weinstein 'asked Kadian to come to his hotel room to review her reel with her and discuss further steps in securing the role he had previously targeted for her'.

Once there, she alleges that Weinstein started massaging her and then groped her breasts and buttocks.

She said she saw Weinstein several times since but after the last meeting in May previous year, again at Le Majestic, she told the executive assistant in London her sexual assault allegation.

"The reason why I said nothing for so long is I thought if I ever wanted an opportunity in this industry, how would small me speak of this man saying he's been inappropriate with me, people look at me like who the hell is this girl to say this about this god or powerful influence", she told reporters.

Dozens of women, including actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Lupita Nyong'o and Ashley Judd, have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, while actresses Asia Argento, Rose McGowan and others have accused the Oscar victor of raping them.

The suit says Weinstein told Noble he had a role in mind that would "be good for you", introduced her to his executive assistant, had her bring a reel of her work to his London office, and promised her a role in a Weinstein Company project.

Civil claims for rape and sexual assault are exceptional in Britain. Federal sex-trafficking law prohibits causing someone to engage in a commercial sex act by means of force, fraud, or coercion (or at all if they're under 18). And Noble allges that The Weinstein Company and Bob Weinstein were complicit in Harvey's acts, making them participants in a sex-trafficking venture.

'Harvey Weinstein traveled in foreign commerce, knowingly recruiting or enticing Kadian, offering her something of value, knowing that he would use this offer as a means to defraud, force or coerce her into a sexual encounter, ' reads the complaint. "TWC employees knew to "take care" of the FOH's", is filed in the claim as reported by Vulture. "Mr Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances".

"Harvey wasn't acting alone".

The complaint then lays out its reasons for naming The Weinstein Company and Bob Weinstein as co-defendants.
