Trump Suggests Contest to Award 'FAKE NEWS TROPHY'

The 71-year-old wrote that CNN is doing a terrible job of representing the United States to the world- claiming that Fox News really has Americans best interests at heart

President Donald Trump continued airing his frustration with press coverage Monday and called for a contest to determine which outlet produces the most "fake news".

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to engage in one of his favorite activities - taking shots at CNN while calling the network "fake news". Trump did not specify how the contest would be carried out or who or what would determine the victor of the trophy.

Left out of his challenge: Fox News, the network most likely to have favorable news coverage of his administration. "They are all bad".

Fox's Laura Ingraham, for example, played along with Trump's idea for a "fake news" contest: "This is really amusing". His evening tweet tarred CNN International while also boosting Fox News, the president's favored organization. In this particular instance, he went even further, stating that CNN International reflects poorly on the United States to the rest of the world and adding that other countries don't see the truth from them.

In August, when CNN's Jim Acosta asked Trump during a White House press conference why he didn't condemn hate groups, Trump snapped back, "they have been condemned".

"For almost four decades CNN has been constant here in the United States and around the world". Since the tape's publication, Trump has been accused of sexual assault by several women, NY magazine reports.

After Blitzer spoke, CNN commentator and former State Department spokesman, retired Rear Admiral John Kirby said Trump's tweets are putting in danger the lives of American journalists overseas. Trump wrote on his account which he uses daily to communicate with his large support base.
