Jeff Bezos Of Amazon Now Worth $100 Billion - Thanks To Black Friday

This year the wealth of Mr Bezos 53 founder and chief executive of Amazon has risen by $32.6 billion

Bill Gates, who is now worth $86.8 billion, would be worth approximately $150 billion if he had not given approximately 700 million Microsoft Corp. shares and $2.9 billion in cash to charity since 1996.

Amazon reported a 34 percent rise in revenue of $43.7 billion in the third quarter this year compared to the same period last year, according to Forbes. Black Friday sales propelled the retailer's shares up by over two percent, Bezos being the owner of roughly 17 percent (78.9 million shares worth $93.6 billion) of the company he founded in his garage in Seattle 1994.

Inc. founder Jeff Bezos has become the newest billionaire to reach a net worth of $100 billion. Gates hit the $100 billion mark back in 1999, and Bezos is the first since then to duplicate the feat.

In fact, the 62 year-old founder of Microsoft would would be worth more than $150 billion (£112.4bn) if he hadn't donated nearly $700 million (£524.91m) Microsoft Corp. shares and $2.9 billion (£2.17bn) of cash and other assets to charity since 1996.

Bezos started 2017 as the fourth richest person in the world, and surpassed both Inditex (ZTSTF, +2.98%) founder Amancio Ortega and Berkshire Hathaway's Warren Buffet this year as well. Unlike Gates, Bezos has given very little of his fortune to charity so far.

Gates, with a current net worth of $86.8 billion, is estimated to have had a net worth of $150 billion had he not given much of his fortune to charity.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos now has a 12-digit fortune, according to an estimate by Bloomberg.

His goal was to tackle problems "at the intersection of urgent need and lasting impact".
