Mick Mulvaney defends Pres. Trump's silence on Roy Moore

White House doesn't call for Moore to exit race

Speaking with reporters in Alabama, Ivey said she has "no reason to disbelieve" the women who have accused Moore of sexual abuse.

With the country confronting revelations of sexual impropriety by powerful men in entertainment and politics, Trump's status as someone accused months before the recent wave of news stories is also a complication for the White House. Kelly asked with feigned ignorance, alluding to the president's own sexual assault accusations.

President Donald Trump has not remarked publicly on the allegations against Moore.

Franken released a second apology, after many viewed his initial apology as incomplete and lackluster, and he has requested a Senate ethics investigation into his actions. I am so sorry.

Until now, the White House had tried to distance Mr Trump from a series of sex scandals that have reverberated from Hollywood to Congress.

"To the people of Alabama, thank you for being smarter than they think you are", Moore said. "He will not stop fighting for the people of Alabama", Kayla Moore said at a "Women for Moore" rally.

The group also called on the Alabama Republican Party Steering Committee, which has the power to decertify Moore's ballot access and void his votes on December 12, to do the same.

Kayla Moore, wife of former Alabama Chief Justice and U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore, spoke a press conference on Friday in Montgomery, Ala. Another said Moore assaulted her when she was a 16-year-old waitress after he offered to drive her home.

In the letter, the ministers say Moore denigrates people of other faiths, doesn't want to expand Medicaid for "over 400,000 poor and working poor Alabamians", uses racial and anti-gay slurs, wants "to entangle government with religion", and claims only Christians should have civil rights.

As president and as celebrity, Mr Trump has often injected himself into issues to which he has little connection - from the shooting of Harambe the gorilla to National Football League anthem protests. The President was very active in this campaign.

"I would contend that his followers are more religious than they are Christian", said Steve Flowers, an Alabama political columnist. She said the state needs to send a Republican to Washington. He initially supported appointed Republican Sen.

Trump also threw his support behind Moore the moment he defeated unusual.
