Arsene Wenger: 'Arsenal are not underdogs for North London derby'

Gus Poyet

"Our target is to win the title and be successful during the season, not necessarily looking at what Tottenham are doing".

Arsenal haven't won any of their last six Premier League meetings with Spurs (D4 L2) - their longest ever winless run against their rivals in league competition.

Despite Tottenham finishing ahead of Arsenal last season for the first time in 22 years, Cech believes that a lack of trophies at their bitter rivals undermines any progress that Tottenham have made under Mauricio Pochettino.

'The more he plays, the more consistently he plays for the duration of games the more goals he is going to score.

"No, not at all", he said, when asked if he thought Arsenal will be the underdog on Saturday.

And ahead of Saturday's derby, Piers Morgan, an avid Arsenal fan, has delivered a sensational message to Harry Kane. They now sit third in the Premier League and are through to the last-16 of the Champions League.

"I think Tottenham are a good side but we have the quality to win this game and that's what we want to show".

"I wish [he returns in January]".

Arsene Wenger has defended his decision to drop Alexandre Lacazette against Manchester City but forgot it was the second occasion he has benched his record signing this season.

"We still have some people coming in today. They were great (in the) Arsene Wenger era, and I think for us it's a massive challenge to stay there and to be competitive against a team that, in the last 20 years, wins more trophies than us".

Arsenal, meanwhile, lost to Manchester City last time out and are in danger of falling further behind in the race for a place in the top four.

Dele Alli and Harry Winks, who also sat out England duty, will be assessed, along with Kane, on Friday.

Arsenal will be without injured striker Olivier Giroud, while Wenger has to decide whether to recall Alexandre Lacazette to the team after leaving the France global out of two big games this season already, at Liverpool and Man City.
