Shelledy Elementary School Celebrates Our Local Veterans

Students at St. Mark Catholic School had a special type of show and tell Thursday in honor of Veterans Day

Thursday morning, Sanchez Elementary School held its annual Veterans Day celebration, and invited local veterans to be their honored guests.

Activities kick off at 8:05 a.m.at Tatum Elementary School with a flag raising ceremony.

She told her classmates that when they hear the phrase, "The land of the free because of the courageous", the veterans are the fearless.

"It brings awareness to the community and people who drive by our school every day that we want to honor the veterans that are here and everywhere really", says Katy Heller, a teacher at Chenango Bridge Elementary. The program will be at 9 a.m., also in the gym.

Knitter said being part of the event was fun, and awesome, and she hopes to continue to bring awareness to veterans on and off campus, especially on Veterans Day, which she believes is meant to pay respect for the ones who fought for her and that she is "paying it forward". Live music by the band and chorus, an Air Force Color Guard, and several tributes from Arcola students. "So, we appreciate their efforts in honoring the veterans".

Sugar Valley native and Air Force veteran Sgt. Kent Vonada will be the keynote speaker. Veterans will receive complimentary catered lunch, gift baskets with nutrition and tasty treats, a chance to win incredible door prizes, program recognition.

Chris Walsh, a Marine Corps veteran, former police chief and Casper city councilman, will serve as master of ceremonies.

Free auto wash for veterans and military personnel from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m.at Westville vehicle Wash, 800 S. State St.to honor and recognize those that have and are serving. Members of the William R. Witty American Legion Post will participate.

Brandon Elementary: Veterans Day program will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday, with Boy Scout Troup 134 assisting.

Saturday, November 11 is Veteran's Day and to honor it, at 11 a.m. The featured speech will be by Army Major Gen. Donald Lynn. The program will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, November 10th in the high school gymnasium and will last approximately one hour. After the Colors are retired, the FHS Choir will perform again.
