At least 3 injured in deliberate vehicle ramming in Toulouse, France

A man has driven into a group of students near the south-western French city of Toulouse injuring three

French Police said a man driving a vehicle outside a high school rammed into three students near Toulouse in southern France.

Police Sources have said that the incident was deliberate but the driver, reported to be aged 28, was not on a security watch list.

The three people hurt are Chinese students ages 22 and 23, police officials said.

The man was arrested immediately.

The driver has a history of mental illness, the interior ministry said in a statement.

At least two are in critical condition. They have been admitted to hospital in the city. La Dépêche du Midi newspaper quoted him as telling police he had heard voices telling him to harm someone.

"At 15:54, a man driving a [Reanault] Clio vehicle presumably deliberately hit three people at a pedestrian crossing", Toulouse prosecutor Pierre-Yves Couilleau told BFMTV.

The incident occurred outside a college in the suburb of Blagnac, According to local police it a "deliberate" act of violence meant to cause injury.

One hundred Chinese students were enrolled this year on an MBA course at the institute, the local paper said.
