Shoulder injury to sideline Bucs' Winston

Dirk Koetter

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston will be sidelined for "at least two weeks" having aggravated an injury to his throwing arm. That streak will end Sunday, when the Bucs (2-6) will try to end a five-game skid with Ryan Fitzpatrick replacing Winston against the New York Jets.

"[The MRI showed] a lot of medical terms that I'm not an expert on, but he needs to be off a couple weeks".

Tampa is expected to activate Ryan Griffin from injured reserve this week and would carry three quarterbacks on the roster.

"Right now, they're saying at least two weeks".

- Jameis Winston will get a few weeks to rest his sore shoulder.

Winston required X-rays and an MRI after Sunday's loss to the Saints for the AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder along with a rear deltoid issue, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The first overall pick in the 2015 draft has made 40 consecutive starts to begin his National Football League career.

The Bucs were all but eliminated from the NFC playoff conversation on Sunday in a 30-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints that dropped Tampa Bay to 2-6 on the season.
