Ezekiel Elliott fights for reputation: 'I'm not an abuser'

Ezekiel Elliott 2

After the Southern District of NY has denied Ezekiel Elliott's request for an emergency injunction, many thought this would be the start of the end of the Dallas Cowboys running back's hopes of not serving his six-game suspension for domestic violence.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he was informed early Friday morning that Elliott would be allowed to play Sunday.

While the Dallas Cowboys have improved on defense in many areas, especially rushing the passer, they still aren't the type of group that can show up and shut down the Chiefs for four quarters.

We are now three weeks away from a scenario where Elliott could begin serving a suspension, then return for the playoffs if Dallas can make them, and then finish out the suspension at the start of next season.

It is important to note that what was granted by the court was Elliott's request for a brief administrative stay (as opposed to the actual injunction or a ruling in Elliott's favor wiping out the suspension entirely), which means that for now, he is only eligible to play this Sunday.

The NFL suspended Elliott for six games on allegations of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend after a lengthy investigation.

After practice Friday, Elliott was asked if he ever came close to accepting the suspension and move on. They've got a few running backs that are pretty good football players. However, the running back was granted a preliminary injunction before the beginning of the 2017 season, and he hasn't missed a game since.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs have had mighty struggles on defense, where they rank near the bottom of the league in almost every major category, including points and total yards, as well as rushing and passing yards.

On Monday night, Smith connected with Kelce seven times for 133 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown that put Kansas City in front of Denver, 14-0, midway through the first quarter.

"Not really that challenging for us", Garrett said. "They really like to hand him the football and he's a very instinctive runner". "He's been playing awfully well here of late and excited to have him back".

"Their quarterback is a maestro orchestrating their offense and Andy (Reid) obviously does a great job of putting it all together", Garrett said.
