Mobile puts 5GB cap on high-speed data in Canada and Mexico

T-Mobile is about to add a new limit to its unlimited plans

Starting on November 12th, the Mobile Without Borders plan will introduce a 5GB LTE data cap on unlimited customers when they're visiting Canada and Mexico. We all know that "unlimited" really isn't unlimited though and when the T-Mobile One plan debuted it had a cap of 32GB of use per month before data prioritization. So in this situation, if you have visited Canada or Mexico you were provided as much LTE data as you ever wanted without any fear of paying back to a huge phone bill.

In 2015, T-Mobile (subsidiaries of the German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom AG) broadcasted its Un-carrier movement called "Mobile without Borders" under which unlimited calling, texting was offered to the customers and LTE date to Canada and Mexico that has been a tempting alternative for most of the travelers.

In case you are in a plan with data stash, which allows you to accumulate data, the data will not be usable in Canada or Mexico anymore. 12, the company will put a 5GB limit on 4G data and speed will be reduced thereafter. The users would not run into overages but they will have to compromise with the speed as it'll automatically slow down the speed to 128 Kbps on being exceeding the given high-speed allotment.

If you are on a USA high-speed plan with 4GB data or 6GB data per month, you will get only 2GB data when you are in these countries. Instead, subscribers will get just 5GB of guaranteed full-speed LTE data before their data speeds are throttled.

One of the things that helped T-Mobile to grow so fast was the reintroduction of unlimited data plans.

The best Unlimited Plan crown has been fiercely contested in 2017, with many carriers launching new offers to try and one-up each other.

T-Mobile said that this move had been made "in order to prevent usage beyond the intent of the product", and noted that "less than one percent of people with this benefit travel to Mexico and Canada use over 5 GB a month". Is 5 GB more than enough anyway?
