Talwars acquitted in Aarushi murder case

5 murder cases that shook the nation

The Allahabad high court acquitted Rajesh and Nupur Talwar on Thursday of killing their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj in the double murder case of 2008. The verdict was given under tight security at the Allahabad High Court.

She has now reacted to the recent verdict. In an immediate reaction, Aarushi's grandfather BG Chitnis told Times Now that he always believed that Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar were innocent. They had later appealed the decision. I am overwhelmed and relieved to hear of the Talwars' acquittal and this strengthens my faith in the Indian judicial system.

"They have really suffered. We are really grateful to the High Court for having aquitted and ending the injustice meted out to them".

Aarushi Talwar was found with her throat slit in her Noida residence on May 2008. However, the case took a shocking turn when Hemraj's body was recovered two days later from the terrace of the same flat.

The Talwars were arrested later that month. The Ghaziabad trial court, which sentenced the Talwars to life imprisonment, not only ignored this but also several other doubts raised by the report.

"Justice delayed is NOT justice denied".

The couple, who are in jail near New Delhi, were not in the packed court for the hearing. "#AarushiVerdict #Talwars", Bhardwaj tweeted.

"However, it still pains me when I think about the precious years lost in prison and the emotional trauma that the parents had to go through, so much so that they couldn't even mourn their own daughter's demise". "The facts and testimonies were examined very carefully and rationally".

# The HC said that CBI could not substantiate evidence. "In the absence of motive, the conviction based on circumstantial evidence can in principle be made".

The Talwars, who were a well-to-do dentists with a happy life with good friends and family have lost everything now and for the past nine years focus has remained on the Talwars due to their cruelty.

"After having breakfast they were praying". She said they got justice today and had tears of joy.

"Any person after spending this amount of jail will feel happy to get freedom".

Tanveer Ahmed Mir, the lead counsel of the accused, said, "Both the honourable judges found that the cases against the Talwar couple were baseless and the evidence produced was not strong enough".

John, who is a family friend of the couple, hoping that the Talwars, who have been in media spotlight for over nine years, will be allowed privacy after their release from the jail.
