Giants Suspend Rodgers-Cromartie After He Walks Out Of Practice Facility

DRC, Landon Collins and Sterling Shepard absent from Giants practice

Giants safety Landon Collins said he believed the issue occurred from what he called an "altercation" between McAdoo and Rodgers-Cromartie on Sunday, according to ESPN.

Rodgers-Cromartie is in his fourth season with the Giants.

On Wednesday, coach Ben McAdoo announced that cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been suspended after he walked out of the team's practice facility earlier in the day. Rodgers-Cromartie felt he was being a "good soldier" by taking the slot cornerback role, according to Rapoport, and the rift blew up amid the loss and apparently dragged into the conversation McAdoo had with Rodgers-Cromartie on Tuesday.

According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Rodgers-Cromartie had a conversation with McAdoo on Tuesday and again on Wednesday, when he ultimately made a decision to leave practice shortly after he got there.

"DRC was in and out", McAdoo said after the loss to the Chargers. So the team suspended him. Before coming to the Giants, he also spent time with the Eagles and Broncos.

Rodgers-Cromartie has been one of the Giants' key defensive players, missing just two games since he arrived in NY.

The Giants have a bye after that, so Shepard would conceivably get three weeks to treat his left ankle injury before returning to action.

"I never really go in the season with expectations, because I always know there's going to be highs and lows of the season", Rodgers-Cromartie said.
