Summer-like weekend with some rain at times

National Weather Service graphic

The showers and possible storms may impact the second half of the Michigan/Michigan State game. I can't rule out showers or even some thunderstorms in the afternoon as the remnants of a tropical system move toward New England. We'll just have an increase in moisture courtesy of that south wind, and some upper level energy could help trigger some scattered showers for our Sunday afternoon plans (see graphic below).

Luckily it looks like the steady and perhaps heavy rain will hold off until Sunday night or Monday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Nate head in our direction. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent with accumulation of less than a tenth of an inch possible. The rain could linger into Monday night and part of Tuesday before it clears out again.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Temperatures will soar into the low to middle 80s heading through the afternoon hours. Wednesday night, partly cloudy, with a low around 55. High pressure is offshore of our coastline, and a southerly wind on the backside of the High is pumping warmer air into the Tidewater area. Low: 70. High: 94.

Look for a mix of clouds and sunshine, 30% chance of rain, highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. Despite less sun, it will remain warm and humid with highs around 80. Temperatures will cool into the 70s for high school football. The current forecast has Nate making landfall in Southeast Lousiana Sunday morning. Overnight lows will be in the 60s.

A cold front is expected to pass through the region Wednesday night bringing an end to the rain. High temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 70s.

Mostly sunny skies for your Friday, with a high near 85.

Starting on Saturday over the weekend, we could see some rain come back into the forecast.
