Investigators who've been searching for the killer of two IN teens brutally murdered while hiking may have a lead all the way IN Colorado.

Police in El Paso County, Colorado, arrested Nations, a registered sex offender, on Monday afternoon after he allegedly threatened several people with a hatchet near a Colorado trail where a man was murdered two weeks ago, according to ABC's Chicago station WLS. The hat in the sketch may not be accurate, police said, adding that the public is asked to focus on the person's facial features.

Daniel Nations, 31, was arrested while he was driving with an expired IN license on Monday, FOX59 reported.

Nations was arrested on an unrelated weapons charge filed by Woodland Park police.

It happened in the same area where a mountain biker was murdered last weekend.

A man arrested in Colorado this week has authorities in IN investigating a possible link to the disappearance and murders of two teen girls last February.

However, Indiana State Police say they've received hundreds of tips following the release of a composite sketch during their investigation into the killings of 14-year-old Liberty German and 13-year-old Abigail Williams. Stay with NewsCenter 16 on air and online as we wait for more information. Their bodies were discovered the following day. El Paso County says Nations was threatening people with a hatchet.

Indiana State Police was notified of his arrest and is looking into Nations' involvement in the death of two teens in New Delphi, Ind. No arrests have been made in their deaths. "We will give the same attention to the person arrested in Colorado, but right now there is nothing that definitively connects this person to our investigation".

Authorities shared a photo recovered from her phone - an image of a man wearing a dark blue jacket and jeans walking along the Delphi trails - as well as chilling audio in a bid to identify the girls' killer. "If that should change-with this tip, or any other tip-rest assured we would be sharing such news with all media sources".

Caroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby says Nations is being considered in the murders of Libby German and Abby Williams. Police said the suspect has reddish-brown hair, stands between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10 and weighs between 180 and 220 pounds.

Nations is a convicted sex offender.
