Canelo vs. GGG: 5 keys for Canelo Alvarez

Now it's time for the real fight of the century

"It's the biggest day for boxing, for this era - this huge history fight", said Kazakh fighter Golovkin. The fight will be held from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and air live on PPV.

Watch the full second episode of the HBO Sports special 24/7: Canelo/Golovkin ahead of the middleweight championship megafight between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.

He has a single loss to Floyd "Money" Mayweather against 49 wins with 34 knockouts.

It is a huge occasion and people are expecting to see the "Fight of the Year" but they are both consummate professionals and pound-for-pound superstars, so they are far too experienced for the size and expectation of this contest to bother them in any way. They are both great fighters but one has been rocked before and now goes up against a fully-fledged middleweight who has never been hurt and happens to have one of the hardest punches in the game!

Whatever you call it, it shapes up as the most anticipated fight of the year in boxing. "They would say not this time but maybe after the next fight".

Alvarez has been accused of only taking this fight because he was ridiculed by his Mexico compatriots according to Golovkin's trainer Abel Sanchez.

From the opening bell, Golovkin's jab was in sublime form, with GGG throwing his left hand with subtle variations of rhythm and power which kept the Canadian on the back foot struggling to dictate or cope with the pace.

Golovkin doesn't have the tools that Canelo has, all he can do is go forward and try to break you down by imposing his will on you.

SAUL "CANELO" ALVAREZ knows that nothing short of a convincing victory against Gennady Golovkin can elevate him to the boxing pantheon of all-time greats. The only reason GGG looked so scary is because fighters feared him, Canelo will not fear him and bully him.

That Conor McGregor managed to make it into the 10th round against a retired 40-year-old who can't knock real boxers out isn't much to celebrate, unless you're McGregor's accountant.
