Amid Article 35A debate, rising encounters Rajnath begins 4-day J&K tour

Acknowledging that the J&K police personnel were working in hard and life-threatening situations, the home minister said orders were issued for bulletproof vehicles at all police stations in the state and jawans too would be provided with bulletproof jackets. Both the J&K police and the CRPF have been at the receiving end, and it was for that reason that the home minister, now on a four-day visit to Kashmir, chose to reach out their officers and jawans in Anantnag. Singh also added that his heart can not stop feeling the pain of the daughter.

Informing the jawans about government's acknowledgement of their good work, Rajnath said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's sent a message appreciating bravery and valour of jawans.

The Home Minister will also discuss the roadmap to ensure long term solutions to the problems people are facing in the valley.

"The Congress party wanted to go to all the three regions of the state and hold deliberations with the people, " Mr Azad told reporters here this evening after almost 20 delegations interacted with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh headed high level Congress Policy and Planning Group of Jammu and Kashmir Affairs. "So whoever comes to meet me, I will talk to them", Mr Singh told reporters here.

He interacted with the security personnel in Anantnag where terrorists just few hours before his arrival in Srinagar killed a Jammu and Kashmir policeman and wounded two others, paid respects to a policeman who was martyred in a terror attack in the south Kashmir.

The Union minister, who is on a four-day visit to the state, is scheduled to address a press conference here tomorrow before flying to the Rajouri district in Jammu for the second leg of his visit.

He said also that he was upset to see daughter of deceased J-K police personnel, Zohra, crying. He also had a one-on-one meeting with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Governor N N Vohra. He will also review the Prime Minister's Development Package. Rajnath made the statement when he was addressing a gathering organized at the Khanabal headquarters of the 90th battalion of CRPF.
