Couple bears names of two hurricanes, Harvey and Irma

Couple, married 75 years, share names with hurricanes Harvey, Irma

But eventually, Irma opened her heart to Harvey, and the two married in 1942.

Harvey and Irma Schluter are a hurricane of adorable.

After marrying in 1942 and returning to Washington, the pair made a decision to become foster parents, ultimately opening their home to 120 children-many with physical and mental disabilities-over the years.

For people who are still coping with the flooding and destruction of Hurricane Harvey or are evacuating to escape the threat of Irma, this service will provide on demand, live access to physicians and therapists who can help counsel individuals and families in their time of need. The Spokesman-Review reported that they took in 120 children over the decades. But in 2011, Hurricane Irene pummeled the Caribbean and many cities on the East Coast, so that name was retired. "I said, 'What are you kids talking about?' They're always trying to mess around to get me on something!" However, it is worth noting if a husband and wife have the same names of two devastating hurricanes that happened around the same time.

The coincidence has brought visits and telephone calls from the New York Times and television stations.

Since 1979, the World Meteorological Organization has used a formula to give names to Atlantic storms.

The couple celebrated their 75th anniversary in March at a local church in Spokane.

They've never been through a hurricane personally. "I shut the door because I didn't know who it was". "They were interesting little people". "It bothers me", she said. Irma and Harvey have dedicated their lives to helping others and have fostered more than 100 children throughout their marriage, on top of having three kids of their own. She did say that she and Mr. Schluter had stayed inside over the last several days because of the smoke from the wildfires plaguing the Pacific Northwest.

When asked why they helped so many Mrs Schluter told The Spokesman-Review: "I don't know, we just did".
