JBL Announces Its First Ever Smart Speaker Series 'JBL LINK' With Google Assistant

Even though the event will technically start from tomorrow, but there have been plenty of launches happening in Germany marking the beginning of the event.

HARMAN has announced new speakers featuring Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. After Panasonic, Mobvoi, Anker and Sony, Samsung-owned Harman has now introduced a number of JBL-branded smart speakers with built-in Google Assistant. This JBL LINK range of speakers comes with JBL's Signature Sound with the Google Assistant.

According to Harman, JBL LINK speakers will go on sale this autumn with the LINK 10 starting at $149, LINK 20 at $199 and LINK 300 at $249.

The main aim of JBL is to offer maximum portability with the wireless smart speakers. The Link 10 and Link 20 also benefit from an IPX7 waterproof coating, so they can survive splashes by the pool. There will be the LINK 10 and LINK 20, both of which are created to be small and portable and will offer up 5 and 10 hours of battery life respectively, and will also be IPX7 certified, meaning that they will be waterproof up to a certain degree.

Google voice assistant technology merging with JBL's signature sound brings powerful listening experience and a conversational voice assistant together in the JBL LINK range of speakers. Power and battery levels vary across the speakers, but they all offer voice-control for music playback, answering questions and controlling other connected smart home products.

The smart speaker territory is becoming crowded and it won't be easy for the makers to compete with each other. In the coming months, it will be interesting to see how consumers react to this influx of so many smart speakers.
