India beat Sri Lanka by 168 runs

Sri Lanka has to modernise customs law to be global hub: Finance Minister

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma slammed majestic centuries as India thump Sri Lanka by 168 runs in the fourth ODI at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday.

India's captain Virat Kohli, center, congratulates teammate Manish Pandey, left, after their win over Sri Lanka in the fourth one-day global cricket match in Colombo.

Fighting a lone battle, Mathews eventually fell for 70. Debutant Shardul Thakur got his first worldwide wicket thanks to DRS. His 96-ball 131 comprised of 17 fours and two sixes.

India had won the toss five times in a row prior to that, dominating the hosts completely in the Test and ODI format.

In reply, Sri Lanka got off to a promising start, but started losing four wickets in succession. In Sri Lanka the wickets are similar to Indian wickets so it makes batting easier. These are not good signs for Sri Lanka, who have been on the receiving end of one of the great limited-overs onslaughts at Rohit's hands.

Kohli reached his 29th ODI century off just 76 balls with a boundary off Milinda Siriwardana to the square-leg fence as he toyed with the bowling attack.

The Indian team is now leading the five-match series 3-0, after three successive matches. Chamara Kapugedera's decision to bat first after winning Sri Lanka's first toss of the series, for example, was baffling - not least to some of his own team-mates.

Suresh Raina, who has played eight seasons of IPL under Dhoni's leadership, took to Twitter and wrote, "The iconic wicketkeeper-batsman @msdhoni [MS Dhoni] gets ready for his 300th ODI match!"

Lasith Malinga will lead the side in the fourth ODI, with suspended captain Upul Tharanga expected to handle the reins in the final ODI on September 3 as well as the solitary T20I on September 6. Pandey has scored half century not out and MS Dhoni is 49 runs from 42 balls.

Irate fans have staged protests over the team's poor form and some of them hurled water bottles to hold up play in Sunday's ODI against India at Pallekele. With 9608 runs from 296 games, the only players above him are Sachin Tendulkar (18,426), Sourav Ganguly (11,221) and Rahul Dravid (10,768). Vishwa Fernando and Akila Dananjaya shared one wicket each.
