Bill Nye the Science Guy Disney Screwed Me With Bad Cash Formula!!

The 'Science Guy' says he was underpaid by at least $9 million

He filed a lawsuit Thursday against Disney along with ABC Television, Buena Vista Television, Touchstone Television Productions, Disney Educational Productions, Disney Movie Club, and Buena Vista Home Entertainment alleging that they engaged in "an ongoing, deliberate conspiracy to deceive Mr. Nye and the [other owners of the series], and deprive them of their rightly owed share of the net profits from the [Bill Nye the Science Guy] series and derivative works".

Nye has now filed a lawsuit against Disney. Nye was also recognizable as "Bill Nye the Coaster Guy", inside the recently closed Cyberspace Mountain at DisneyQuest. The host says that he tried to get an explanation but was thrown around for years, resulting in him hiring an external auditor.

The popular show "Bill Nye the Science Guy" was aired from September 1993 to June 1998, according to IMDB.

According to the lawsuit, Nye has been suspicious of Disney's books since 2008, when Disney informed him that he owed the company close to $US500,000 due to an "accounting error". The following year, Nye and the producers landed a distribution deal with Disney.

In 2014 his attorney notified the company of their intent to audit, only to be told that there was a backlog on such procedures, and that it would have to wait for three to four years.

Nye says that the audit finally got off the ground in May of 2016, but he alleges that the defendants didn't include documents like licensing agreements and digital sales information.

The auditor ultimately concluded that Nye is owed $9.3 million.

The auditor, according to the complaint, found that BVT applied incorrect rates for distribution fees, mischaracterized revenues, didn't report royalties and improperly deducted foreign taxes. The check was for $585 thousand, but Nye was soon contacted by Disney, who said they'd made an accounting error, and he'd have to return $496 thousand of that money. Disney have not released a statement on the lawsuit or Nye's claims.

The suit also disputes the costs Disney claimed to have incurred-which grossed over $20 million-despite the fact that it was largely backed by federal grants from the Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, and other organizations.
