Coutinho hands in transfer request after Pool owners rule out sale

Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool's training camp in Germany

Since arriving at Anfield from Brazilian side Internazionale Milan for £8.5 million, Coutinho has been nothing short of stellar scoring over 40 goals in 182 appearances for the Reds.

The Reds boss has said that the "timing" of Coutinho's request to leave Liverpool makes it even more out of the question, adding that it's impossible to put a price on the Brazil global because it's too late in the window to try to replace him.

Barcelona is looking for a replacement for Neymar, who was sold to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record fee of 222 million euros ($262 million) last week.

No wonder Jurgen Klopp was in such a awful mood at his first pre-match press conference of the Premier League season. The request was turned down.

Liverpool rebuffed a £72million bid from Barcelona for the Brazilian, with Kop boss Jurgen Klopp revealing he would sit down with his star player and underline his importance to the team.

But I don't think so because I think it was pretty clear what the club, FSG, said about it.

In a statement yesterday, the club's owners said its "definitive stance" was that "no offers will be considered". "And that is the way it will go".

Confirmed reports claim the 25-year-old has emailed the club an official transfer request on Friday, with his eyes set on a Camp Nou switch. We expected a good reaction from Liverpool but we needed to be better. The message was from Liverpool FC owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG). "The rest is not for you, it is between me and all the boys, not just Phil".

The club are said to be saddened by the player's actions after he signed a new five-year deal in January worth £150,000 a week, committing himself to the club and conducting himself professionally.

Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has taken to social media platform Twitter to let know his verdict on the saga.

But Klopp is not anxious by the situation, insisting his only concern regards the fitness of the Brazilian, who misses the game at Watford through injury and is also doubtful for the Champions League first leg qualifier against Hoffenheim in midweek.
