Billie Lourd will inherit $6.8M from Carrie Fisher's estate

Carrie Fisher's Daughter Billie Lourd Will Inherit Nearly $7 Mil

American actress Billie Lourd will receive nearly U$6.8 million (AU$8.63 million) from her mother's estate, according to new court documents.

TMZ reports court documents that show Fisher left behind a personal estate estimated at $6.8 million, though it's possible that number could climb as other trusts and assets are discovered and catalogued.

The will, created January 15, 2016, states that the executor is authorized to pay the estate's federal, state and inheritance taxes and to use his discretion regarding the preliminary and final distribution of property. Being the only child of actress Carrie Fisher and talent agent Bryan Lourd, she is the legal inheritor of the property. There could be more inheritance coming her way, as well, as the website said the probate case does not reflect money that could be in various trusts.

Beyond tangible items, Lourd has also been named the person responsible for Fisher's public image and likeness, as well as "The Last Jedi" star's intellectual property rights. This includes ongoing proceeds from Fisher's books (she wrote more than half a dozen), specials, trademarks and copyrights.

It's not just the Billie Lourd net worth that has expanded as a result of this filing.

Earlier this month, Billie Lourd opened up about how she's coping with the loss of her mother and grandmother. Star Wars: The Last Jedi's John Boyega promises fans can expect an epic sendoff for Fisher's General Leia in that film (she'd filmed pretty much all of her material before her death, so expect her to still have a large role in the narrative). The Star Wars actress had been taken ill onboard a transatlantic flight from London to Los Angeles just four days before.
