Gorka: North Korea's latest threat 'an exercise in blackmail'

Law enforcement officials investigate an explosion at the Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington Minnesota August. 5 2017

Neither Ruhle or co-host Ali Velshi asked Gorka to comment on his own decades-long ties to Hungary's far-right Vitézi Rend group, and they failed to challenge his claims on "lone wolf" terrorists. When a mosque in Quebec City was attacked by a Canadian-born man, the only comment from the White House came after reporters asked about it during a press briefing.

"Nobody in the world, especially not North Korea, comes close to challenging our military capabilities", Gorka continued.

Sebastian Gorka, deputy assistant to the president, appeared on "Fox & Friends" to discuss, among other things, President Donald Trump's comments about North Korea's increasing nuclear abilities.

"We've had a series of crimes committed, alleged hate crimes by right wing individuals in the last six months that turned out to be propagated by the left", Gorka said.

Gorka said that the White House will "absolutely" comment once there is a finalized investigation into the incident.

This does, however, make it all the more curious that Trump has had literally nothing to say about a makeshift bomb that was detonated early Saturday morning at a Minnesota mosque.

"The President's failure to condemn the terrorist attack on the Bloomington Islamic Center is an outrage". Asad Zaman, director of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, told BuzzFeed News.

A White House adviser with Nazi links dismissed the existence of right-wing domestic terrorists as an Obama plot to "make Americans stupid". "Let's allow the local authorities to provide their assessment and then the White House will make its comments".

Awkward silence in the wake of attacks that target Muslims or mosques is not unusual for Trump.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a non-profit organization that tracks hate crimes in the US, told Anadolu Agency the Trump administration's silence fits into its pattern in response to anti-Muslim attacks.

"You do not test President Donald Trump and you certainly don't test a four star marine general like General John F. Kelly", Gorka concluded.

The White House aide was on MSNBC defending his boss' silence after the Minneapolis mosque attack, saying that the incident might as well be "fake".

"These are the moments when we have to come together as the nation and support the executive", he said, adding: "Anybody, whether they're a member of Congress, whether they're a journalist: If you think your party politics, your ideology trumps the national security of America, that is an indictment of you".

Soon after he made the statement, authorities in the Philippines said the incident was linked to a robbery, not terrorism.
