Special counsel Robert Mueller impanels grand jury into Trump/Russia investigation report says

US dollar and stocks wobble on report Mueller is setting up grand jury for Russia probe

Since I'm not aware that Trump has said Mueller's investigation is a witch hunt like that at Salem, Trump may be right-Mueller's investigation is a witch hunt in which there is collusion with the devil.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that Tillis and Coons' legislation would allow any Justice Department special counsel to challenge his or her firing in court, and to have it reviewed by a three-judge panel. The investigation into Russia's meddling int he 2016 presidential election has expanded to include possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation, as well as the president's decision to fire Comey earlier this year. Kelly, who was appointed to the post the day before, described the president as still miffed at Sessions but did not plan to fire him or hope he would resign.

Franks also criticized Mueller for hiring members who donated to Hillary Clinton's campaign.

That report included the well-known story of both Comey and Mueller threatening to resign in 2007 after aides to President George W. Bush had attempted to have then-Attorney General John Ashcroft approve a surveillance program from his hospital bed.

Before Mr. Mueller was tapped in May to be special counsel, federal prosecutors had been using at least one other grand jury, located in Alexandria, Va., to assist in their criminal investigation of Michael Flynn, a former national security adviser.

Mueller has strong support on Capitol Hill.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of SC, another member of the Judiciary panel, said last week that he was working on a similar bill that would prevent the firing of a special counsel without judicial review. It also appears that each evolution in investigative sophistication very almost moves in lock-step with the outbreak of additional revelations indicating undisclosed meetings and questionable associations between those within President Trump's immediate orbit and affiliates of the Kremlin.

Senate and House committees also launched their own investigations. If they found there was no good cause for the firing, the counsel would be immediately reinstated.

Mueller's team of high-profile lawyers include Andrew Goldstein, the former head of the renowned public corruption unit at the Manhattan federal prosecutor's office; Andrew Weissman, chief of the DOJ's fraud section; and James Quarles, who served as an assistant special prosecutor during the Watergate investigation.
