Xavier Rhodes agrees to five-year extension with Vikings

Sources: Vikings finalizing five-year extension for CB Xavier Rhodes

Rhodes' deal reportedly includes $41 million in guaranteed money and sets him up to make $42 million over the first three years of the deal.

The Minnesota Vikings signed cornerback Xavier Rhodes to a multiyear contract extension on Sunday. Rhodes, 27, will be under contract with the Vikings until he his 34 (if he plays the full six years).

Throughout his career, Rhodes has totaled 236 tackles, 7 INTs, 68 PBUs, 8 TFLs, 2 FFs.

Should the Vikings reach an agreement with Rhodes, it would be the second time in two weeks that they locked up a key member of their defense. The Vikings are also discussing contract extensions with defensive tackle Linval Joseph and linebacker Anthony Barr. In 2016, Rhodes was named to his first career Pro Bowl. Still a top-15 National Football League cornerback by most measures, Rhodes' big body, long arms, and physical style have made him a fantastic fit for Mike Zimmer's man-coverage scheme. "He loves the (Vikings) organization, but obviously it's a business".

The team announced on Sunday that Rhodes has agreed to a contract extension.
