Actor Mumaith Khan appears before special probe team

The Narcotics Control Bureau is working on leads outside the state leading to the drug racket in the city

While actor Ravi Teja will be questioned this week, SIT was unable to locate the whereabouts of dancer Mumaith Khan.

Actress Mumaith Khan, who is among a dozen top actors being investigated in a massive drug racket, today appeared before the special investigation team (SIT) of Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department in Hyderabad which is probing the case.

SIT's focus shifted to the Telegu film celebrities and they were called for questioning from July 19-27.

As per SIT police reports, Actor Ravi Teja's Mobile number was found in the cell phones of arrested drug dealers Calvin and Jeeshan.

Mumaith is said to have told the SIT that she is not much in touch with Puri Jagannadh as she is not getting many offers in Tollywood of late. According to the rules of the television reality show, no participant is allowed to leave the house till he or she is eliminated from the contest.

The SIT has arrested 20 accused in the racket, which created a sensation following startling revelation that the peddlers sold drugs to students of several colleges and schools in Hyderabad, Tollywood celebrities and techies. The actress, who was grilled for more than six hours stated that she smokes and consumes alcohol but has never taken drugs. Charmee even approached High Court to order the officers not to take her samples.

A four-member team of SIT officials began questioning the actor with regard to the racket busted in July.

Reportedly she answered all questions posed by the SIT. The officials have also asked for samples of hair, blood and nails from these celebrities for forensic examination.

Ravi Teja, a superstar with a mass following in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was summoned after his name cropped up in the massive drugs racket thriving in Hyderabad.

Nineteen people have been arrested so far and seven cases registered.
