Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare gives Riyad Mahrez update amid Arsenal transfer interest

African Star Picks His Five-A-Side Dream Team

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal have held discussions with Leicester about Mahrez but their high valuation has put them off. The Gunners do not want to pay anything over £35 million to secure the Algerian winger's services are unwilling to meet Leicester City's £50 million valuation of the player.

While it would seem that picking a five-a-side team would prove a hard task, Leicester City attacker Riyad Mahrez probably wouldn't draw too much criticism for his picks.

In nine Champions League matches, Mahrez scored four goals and provided two assists for the Foxes.

Arsenal have already splashed the cash once this summer, smashing their club record transfer with the signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for £53m!

Their next priority seems to be the addition of another attacking player, with the future of Alexis Sanchez mired in heavy uncertainty.

Mahrez recently submitted a transfer request and it is suggested that he has an understanding with Leicester that he will be allowed to leave after he showed loyalty to the club last summer - but seemingly only if an acceptable offer is made. Even if he were to stay, he only had a year left on his deal, meaning Arsenal would look for a long-term substitute.

Thus, Mahrez is set to begin pre-season training with Leicester with a switch to the Emirates still some way off.
