Halo developer tweets cryptic message surrounding the game

Halo 5 4K Update Confirmed For Xbox One X

Earlier this morning developer 343 Industries revealed that Halo will be coming to the Backward Compatibility program for the Xbox One.

343 Industries has announced that Halo 5 will be updated to support true 4K resolution with the release of Xbox One X in November.

Since then it has added a number of titles on a monthly basis but based on fan feedback, the Xbox Engineering team will start to pilot a new way to launch Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles.

It was a surprise to most of us that Halo didn't get a mention at E3.

Halo 5 is one of the rare first party game that was missing from Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference.

Although 343 studios is mum on the details, they promise to reveal more as the release date approaches.

Called the "Summer Celebration", 343 Industries has some fairly big news pertaining to past Halo installments.

Of course all of these games are already playable on the Xbox One through the Master Chief Collection, which includes Halo: CE Anniversary, a Halo 2 remaster, Halo 3, and Halo 4, as well as every multiplayer map. All of these titles will allow LAN play on Xbox One, even being possible to include play between Xbox One and Xbox 360.

As if Halo 5 in 4K weren't enough, 343 has also announced that an onslaught of Halo games will be hitting Xbox backward compatibility soon.

The listed games in today's news update all happen to be part of H:MCC, but only their original Xbox 360 code is getting updates as opposed to their recompiled H:MCC versions. This is about as good as anyone could hope for, short of concrete news about future games.
