Trump Confirms He's Under Investigation Over Comey Firing

Robert Mueller's investigation into Donald Trump and Russia is growing

"The public interest requires me to place this investigation under a person who exercises a degree of independence from the normal chain of command", Rosenstein said in his announcement last month.

On Thursday, it was reported that President Trump himself was under investigation for possible obstruction of justice. He then, as he does nearly daily, referred to the Justice Department's Russian Federation election meddling probe as a "Witch Hunt". He's increasingly focused his anger at both Rosenstein and Mueller, according to advisers and confidants, viewing the two as part of a biased effort to undermine his presidency.

Will Trump fire Mueller, the same way he dismissed Comey?

"The Fake News Media hates when I use what has turned out to be my very powerful Social Media - over 100 million people!"

Rosenstein has been overseeing the Russian Federation probe since shortly after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself. "You can bet that when the president testifies regarding his role in Comey's firing, he will be asked about this tweet". The way the Director handled the conclusion of the email investigation was wrong.

Amid jokes that his aides and his legal team are trying to take away his phone so he does not tweet because he implicates himself often, the Chicago Tribune ran an oped under the headline "Donald Trump's tweets are accelerating his own political death spiral". An official of Trump's transition confirmed the lawyer's internal order, which was sent Thursday.

The move was confirmed by a transition official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss post-election decisions.

In a tweet earlier Friday, Trump said nobody has been able to show any proof about his collusion with Moscow after months of investigations. It goes without saying that discovering any money flows between Trump campaign officials or advisers and Russian government-linked individuals or institutions would be explosive.

President Donald Trump walks with National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster from the Oval Office to Marine One on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, Friday, June 16, 2017, for a short trip to Andrews Air Force Base, Md., then onto Miami. Pence headed the Trump transition until Inauguration Day.

Comey told a Senate panel last week he believed Trump fired him because of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Russian Federation probe. The memo asks for preservation of electronic communications and data, telephone logs, audio recordings, videos, calendars and other items.

That particular interaction suggests that Trump hoped to get top officials to push back on the bureau's probe and could be relevant to investigators who want to understand the conversations the president was having regarding the FBI probe. "Trump reverted to attacking the special counsel, railed at Hillary Clinton (!) and, frankly, seemed once again unglued", Rubin wrote in The Post's Friday editions.
