Queen praises a country ‘resolute in the face of adversity

The 91st birthday celebration of Queen Elizabeth was nearly marred after a guardsman fainted during hot conditions at a parade to honour the British Monarch.

She rode with her husband Prince Philip in an open carriage in the procession along Horse Guards Parade.

The Queen and Prince Phillip traveled in a carriage, as did Princess Camilla, Prince Harry and Duchess Kate.

For this year's parade, George was joined on the balcony by the other senior royals and his little sister, Princess Charlotte, who wore a pink dress.

Princess Charlotte of Cambridge and Prince George of Cambridge offer up the most entertaining expressions.

Earlier in the day the Queen gave an address to the nation, acknowledging the "terrible tragedies" that were the recent terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.

The Queen, 91, visited the site of the Greenfell Tower fire in north Kensinton with her grandson, Prince William, on Friday and paid a visit to the Westway Community Centre, where many residents are now seeking shelter following the blaze.

Dressed in his full uniform - including a bearskin - one soldier fell forward out of his formation at the Horse Guards Parade at St Jame's Park marking the Queen's official birthday.

The Queen's birthday is on April 21 but it is officially acknowledged in the United Kingdom on a Saturday in June.

Elizabeth has been queen since 1952.
