Erendira Wallenda flies over Niagara Falls

In this Aug. 22 2016

Six years ago, world-famous daredevil Nik Wallenda dangled from a trapeze attached to a helicopter hovering 250 feet above a Missouri theme park.

She sat on a lyra, or ring, as the helicopter departed from atop the Seneca Niagara Casino parking garage.

Only a few dozen people viewed the stunt from the American side, compared to the tens of thousands who gathered on both sides for Nik's high-wire walk five years prior.

"I respect this man so much more", she said of her husband after landing.

Erendira Wallenda assured the public that she felt prepared for the feat because of her training. She said her dentist made her a mouth guard that she will wear, but she will use her jaw muscles to avoid falling. "You just get lost in the moment".

"I probably would want to spend all day long up there", she said. "That's what I live for".

Wallenda's husband, Nik, had performed his own special antics just five years earlier.

Follow along with updates from our staff at Niagara Falls. "That's the dream, that's the goal". Barth has worked with the Wallendas for over a decade, he said, and on movies and television shows. "That's fantastic. That's awesome, '" he said.

"I wanted to stop and go a little bit closer to the audience that I had because that's what makes you feel alive, you see people smile at you and you're hopefully inspiring other people".

Barth said the flight was steady, though turbulence pushed him higher.

Nik Wallenda is known for being the first person to walk a tightrope directly over Niagara Falls.

Erendira's stunt was unanimously approved by the Niagara County Legislature earlier this year, and $35,000 was set aside for the event.

"It's good to be back on the ground", Wallenda said at a news conference after landing safely.
