Men Hurl Fruit at NYC Deli Clerk, Breaking His Jaw

VIDEO: Men attack deli worker with avocados

Police say the customers erupted in anger when there was confusion over their food order.

Trouble flared when the worker tried to kick the two men out for causing a scene over their order.

Police are searching for two suspects who attacked a deli clerk and broke his jaw by pummeling him with avocados and bananas. After the incident escalated, 21-year-old store clerk Amir Alzabibi reportedly attempted to kick them out of the deli.

The attackers managed to get away in a dark colored sedan.

"This action, what he do, it's not normal", an employee told News 4 NY.

Video shows one of the men grabbing several avocados and then throwing them at the employee.

He was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition. The second suspect was a black male last seen in a white T-shirt, a blue vest, blue jeans and blue and white sneakers.

Surveillance video shows the clerk grabbing his head after one of the avocados hits him.

The bodega clerk's jaw was broken in the attack along with other bones in his face, police said.

The suspects are described as being in their late 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches and 180 pounds, police said. He also needed surgery to his eyes.
